Students at HBCUs and HSIs
HBCUvc offers a venture capital fellowship for students attending historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and Hispanic-serving institutions (HSIs). During the program, Fellows participate in skill training workshops, receive specialized mentorship, and network with leading venture capitalists. Fellows obtain venture capital work experience through HBCUvc’s Venture Capital Clinic — a teaching venture capital firm, and are charged with creating projects to fuel high-growth entrepreneurship on their campuses. This first-of-its-kind program allows students to gain experience that jumpstarts their careers.

Girls Who Invest

Girls Who Invest (GWI) is a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing gender diversity and inclusion in investment management, with a focus on growing the pipeline of women entering the industry in frontline investing positions. They accomplish this through education, mentoring, internships, and a supportive community.

The organization’s on-campus program enables college students to explore investment management careers through four weeks of education at top universities followed by a six-week paid internship at one of more than 100 leading investment management firms. Scholars unable to commit 10 weeks to the on-campus program can apply for Girls Who Invest’s four-month, fully subsidized, self-directed Online Intensive Program. In addition, all scholars receive support and career guidance from a community of partners, mentors, and alumni. Girls Who Invest’s vision is for 30% of the world’s investable capital to be managed by women by 2030.

College Students
Girls Who Invest offers programming for students who are rising juniors in college and pursuing a career in venture capital and asset management. The programming includes two fully-subsidized foundational programs in investment/asset management: an on-campus Summer Intensive Program (SIP), wherein students partake in four weeks of educational training followed by a six-week paid internship at a top investment management firm, and an Online Intensive Program (OIP), which is a self-guided educational experience provided in partnership with Wharton Online, Wall Street Prep, and the CFA Institute.

VC Firms and Individuals
Girls Who Invest partners with firms interested in helping foster diversity and inclusion in the investment industry. GWI will facilitate direct access to talented candidates to enhance partners’ recruitment efforts. Partner firms will be able to develop long-term relationships with these students who are prepared to succeed in the industry. With Girls Who Invest, investment professionals have the opportunity to mentor students, speak at events, and teach courses during their college summer intensive program.

Toigo creates a tailored engagement package designed to maximize the firm’s exposure and access to Toigo MBA Fellows seeking a career in venture capital and Toigo Alumni who are seasoned investment professionals – some with more than 15 years of post-MBA finance expertise. Firms also have the opportunity to post job openings on the Toigo job bank.

Individuals
There are many important ways individuals can become engaged with Toigo, from participation in our educational programming (including speaking at our events and webinars) to providing financial support for our Fellows during the academic careers, or serving in a mentoring capacity. With respect to mentoring, professionals from the financial industry are recruited as needed to coach, counsel and support Fellows throughout their MBA careers and beyond. Mentors provide professional and personal support and guidance to their assigned Fellow or group of Fellows. Mentors serve formally during the students’ graduate studies, but in many cases become lifelong friends and colleagues. There is also informal mentoring for post graduate professionals who seek more experienced advice and counsel.

Emerging Venture Capitalists Association (EVCA)

The Emerging Venture Capitalists Association (“EVCA”) is a non-profit professional group for pre-partner venture capitalists (analyst, associate, principal, or vice president) working full-time for SEC-accredited venture firms. The community is managed on Slack and facilitates continuing education and social programing through thirteen industry verticals that organize topic-specific speaker series, panels, workshops, and themed dinners.

Women Who Launch (WWL)

Women Who Launch (“WWL”) was founded at the University of Michigan with a mission to foster gender balance in entrepreneurship and investing. WWL addresses the gender gap in the entrepreneurial ecosystem by strengthening the pipeline of women entering the industry as founders, investors, or start-up team members.

Women Who Launch empowers female students to follow their passions in investing and entrepreneurship through its supportive community, relevant educational programs, and professional development opportunities, including conferences, bootcamps, and career treks.

Through WWL’s community and programs we are cultivating a talent pool of women interested in working in this industry.

Women Who Launch empowers women to follow their passions in investing and entrepreneurship through a supportive community, relevant educational programs, and professional opportunities. We are developing opportunities for MBA women interested in VC to gain hands on experience.
